It has been too long. Far too long.

September 22, 2009

I know. Moving and computers breaking will do that. But here! I Have the internet! and HERE! is my vague attempt at a new website layout. Having trouble figuring out the css for it, but I’ll get there.

And Ive got an etsy up, but the prints are not available until I get a computer to run my printer from.

I can has scanner!

July 20, 2009

Indeed, I now have a scanner and some (finally) time off tonight to finish the heart piece. Of course, I got a scanner that doesn’t work with macs, so I have to scan on my bajillion year old laptop and then transfer using my old Ipod that got run over by a car, but that’s about the gist of what I expected after graduating. rib_cage026

and here’s a little before for a piece that I’ve been working on. And now, for work.

I will conquer css.

July 8, 2009

Once again I am attempting to learn html/css/etc. My scanner cord is on the way via snail mail, and believe the me this snail could not move fast enough because I am itching to do a new website design and some new pieces. I’ve got one all sketched out, so here’s a little teaser:

heart_sketch_blog

here are the collage elements i’ll be working with, and here:

heart_sketch_blog2

is an indicator of what i’ll be doing with it. hopefully this cord comes soon so i can catch it in progress. i’m so excited to be going to the plastic club tonight for a discussion they’re having about the recent show in dirty frank’s. the show is called grow, and it’s about artwork that is “green” and they don’t necessarily mean sculpture using recycled car parts. as someone that does collage and uses pretty much all pre-existing materials- old magazines, photos, books, etc. i can’t wait to hear what other people have to say about it.

POST EDIT:

woah! I have been reading for barely twenty minutes and i already feel 10x smarter. it also seems like there’s exponentially more to learn, but it’s all kind of fun.

bella_morire_revised

a newly revised bella morire, this one’s different than the one on my website. its just a personal piece.

and this one is a slow mover, but i’ve been trying a few things with it today. wish i could print one out and do it by hand, and i will be able to tomorrow! finally getting a printer scanner, so expect to see more stuff!

So much for a hiatus

June 15, 2009

I have been busy busy busy, and somehow managed to make time for my other two jobs in between my (hiatus on) art. I was so excited to attend my first Plastic Club meeting which was a nude modeling session, and here are my sketches:

more to come on this one. must finish superhero glasses.

faces? where we're going we don't need no stinking faces.

trying to work type into these, of course, i should be doing so digitally.

they’re just photographs until i get a scanner. slow works that whole starting out thing, huh?

i’ve also started an etsy to sell my handmades, at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7541873. nothing listed there yet, like i said, slow.

i’m just glad i couldn’t take that much time off of art, even if i do work two almost full-time jobs.

Needs must!

June 3, 2009

I regret to say that currently I must be taking a hiatus from updating, my guess is about two or three weeks. Working a bit to get a nest egg saved up and then back to art! Looking into reserving a booth at the Punk Rock Flea Market too, and very excited for the 80′s pop show up at Brave New Worlds this first friday!

Truly, covered in paint.

May 29, 2009

My supplies have finally made it back from the studio and even after a (fun) (if frazzled) day of helping a friend move, I’m so entrenched in three different new things that my blog has been neglected. Pictures later. And hopefully a lack of gray matter in the back.

So close!

May 25, 2009

This gray background thingy just won’t go away. More time for playing later, apologies for the intermittent disarray.

And now for something entirely different:

May 23, 2009

I’m attempting to adjust the blogs look to match my website today, so this could prove disastrous, but I’ve got high hopes. Graduation was wonderful, but I can’t wait to get all my art supplies back home so I can start working again. Until then, I play with CSS.

Could this update be any longer?

cat_layout_web_preview

Above you see an in progress new layout for my website, which I am way excited for, and it should be up within a few days. It’s changed a bit since that image, but all for the best. This layout should be a lot easier to update and includes a bunch of stuff from my sketchbooks (which are all books I’ve made or old books in other languages.) I’m incredibly grateful to my friend Jeremy who has been helping immensely, so you should go look at his stuff, www.jeremygoodfellow.com. His is in progress too, since he’s been so busy helping his friends.

New Open House

And now above is some more revisions on the Open House poster for University of the Arts. I’m one of the 14 or so finalists that they chose and that should be judged tomorrow. There are actually four versions of mine, because of the way I work. It’s been a process this year figuring out how I can give preliminary sketches for my pieces, but working digitally and just in general getting a better feel for my work has made it much easier. There’s been about 3 rounds of revisions on this, and each step has been fun.

And finally, these three are from my set of promo images I was doing for portfolio day. My teachers have kind of nixed it, because the idea wasn’t fully realized, but I don’t think I can let this go just yet. There’s going to be 50 or so and I’d like to make them into a booklet if time allows. Portfolio day is coming up quickly though, so we’ll see.

Also!

New postcards coming soon!

Letterpress business cards in addition to my offset ones!

Rice paper scrolls?!

Who knows!
